M.C. "5 Cents" Jones (1918 - 2003) gained his nickname due to his height: he was an even 5 feet tall. He spent most of his life picking cotton and working as a field hand on the Lynn Plantation near the Texas border in Louisiana. His work ranged from portraits, to depictions of farm life as well as religious subjects.

His work can be seen at the Louisiana State Museum and the Smithsonian's National Museum of American Art.
